Since 2003, the Extreme Cellists have taken musical performances to new heights, and depths, by giving performances in many extreme locations.

Their next challenge will be on 22 April 2012, when they will attempt to run the London Marathon carrying their cellos! They are doing this to raise money for the spinal cord injury charity Aspire. Click here to read more about this challenge, or here to sponsor the Cellists for this challenge.

Previous challenges
Most recently, in 2010, the Extreme Cellists successfully undertook the English Coast-to-Coast walk (as made famous by Alfred Wainwright), carrying and playing their cellos as they went; this raised over £6,000 for two charities, Aspire and PACT.

In previous years the Extreme Cellists have successfully negotiated a number of other challenges, including the Four Peaks Challenge (climbing the tallest mountains in Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland with cellos, and giving a performance at the top of each), running the Sheffield Half Marathon (carrying cellos and stopping to play twice along the way), the Cathedral Roof Tour (playing on the roofs of all 42 Anglican Cathedrals in England in just 12 days), walking from 45-mile route from Manchester to Sheffield in a single day, and
the Monopoly Board Challenge, playing at each of the streets on the London Monopoly board in just one day.

In doing so, they have raised nearly £20,000 for a variety of charities. Click here to read more about these previous ventures, or follow the links at the top of this page to discover more about Extreme Cello Playing.
